Orionka Creative Center

Prague has a unique potential to become a European hub for creative industries, especially in the field of game development. But it lacks the space to bring creators, business and the public together, fostering the growth of creativity while offering the possibility of engagement for all generations. This is what the Orionka Creative Center aims to bring together disciplines such as design, animation, music, marketing and more under game development.

Place for Human Creativity

Creative centers are recognized worldwide as key tools for the development of creativity. Orionka will bring a combination of studios, workshops, exhibition spaces and facilities for business. However, it is a focused center that will help Prague become an international player in the creative industries with an emphasis on gaming.

Why game development?

  • Game development unites various creative professions (design, animation, music, marketing).
  • More than half of the Czech game studios are based in Prague.
  • The gaming industry is growing dynamically (mobile games, VR, AI).
  • The Smart Accelerator program will provide funding for the mentoring program.
  • The Czech Association of Computer Game Developers (GDA) supports the project.
  • Universities such as UK, FAMU, CTU already involve gaming disciplines.
  • The contributing organizations of the City of Prague will be able to use technology and knowledge from the field of gaming in cultural production.

Inspiration from abroad

Game Habitat Malmö

The largest of its kind in Europe, it combines game development and community activities. Over 95% of the developers in the region are active members, resulting in long-term economic growth for the city.

Dutch Game Garden, Utrecht

Since 2008, they have organized over 1000 public events attended by tens of thousands of people - so it is noticeable that people's interest in such activities, and therefore the impact on the quality of life in the city, is high. In addition, at the Utrecht Creative Center, they helped launch more than 850 successful games, and launched more than 150 incubated young studios into the world!

Gamecity Hamburg

It connects gaming studios with universities and the public. Hamburg has become one of the main centers of the European gaming industry thanks to a model of cooperation between the city and the creative industries.

10 reasons why Orion will bring positive changes:

  1. Space for people: It will connect three city districts (Prague 2, 3, 10) and create a meeting place.
  2. Financial sustainability: It will not be dependent on city subsidies thanks to its business model.
