Evaluating the Arts for the City program

Evaluating the Arts for the City program

We prepared research and analysis documents for GHMP and organized a conference. We have proposed modifications to the program, which focuses on art in the public space.

The aim of the evaluation was to find limits in the process of implementing art in the public space, to propose a modification of the Art for the City program and to involve stakeholders in a participatory manner.

What are the outcomes of the evaluation?

The evaluation project ran from March 2022 to March 2023 and produced the following outputs:

  1. research of foreign practice of placing art in public space
  2. research of Czech practice with emphasis on finding key stakeholders
  3. conference STONE, CITY, PAPER on art in public space with international participation (Matthias Einhof from the Berlin ZK/U, Martina Teig from the Vienna KÖR, representative of Gdańsk Laznia Anna Szynwelska and King Jarock)
  4. analysis of the Art for the City programme
  5. proposal of a variant solution for the modification or transformation of the Art for the City program

Conference STONE, CITY, PAPER

The aim of the two-day conference was to connect actors from the public and private and independent spheres who develop art in the public space in the Czech environment. Among the presenters were both representatives of local governments and political representation, as well as artists and representatives of independent cultural organizations, who presented different approaches to art in the public space and its systemic support by cities and municipalities.
