The cultural policy of Prague 22+ serves as a basic starting point, which is reflected in the work of not only elected and unelected representatives of the city. Its implementation relates to a wide range of cultural actors in Prague, led by the Municipality and organizations established or founded by the city.
The Cultural Policy of the City of Prague has five thematic chapters:
At the same time, the document declares five key principles that should be respected by the city and across the cultural community — sustainability, accessibility and openness, piloting and knowledge, innovation, diversity.
In addition to the final document, the way in which the strategy is created is also key. Therefore, we tried to communicate as much as possible with cultural professionals, representatives of the office, political representation and the wider cultural community. As a result, KP22+ was created broadly participatory in the following steps:
The cultural policy was unanimously approved by the ZHMP in April 2022.
The action plan is based on cultural policy and elaborates in more detail the agenda for the following calendar year. It names specific projects, specifies the method of financing and determines who is responsible for implementation. We are working on action plans in cooperation with the Department of Culture and municipal cultural organizations. Our long-term ambition is to broaden the spectrum of actors involved in cultural policy implementation and to open up work on action plans to the wider cultural community and the independent sector.
The approved final version of the strategic document Cultural Policy of Prague 22+ can be read in pdf. The Action Plan 2024 is also available in pdf. If you are interested in the details of the creation and implementation of KP22+, write to Lenka at lenka.fendrychova@kreativnipraha.eu
